It is a myth; red is used in tradition with Spain - possible from the flag, but I am not 100% sure

However, the reason bulls will run at the red rag is that the movement (when the matador shakes it slightly) attracts the bull, and hence the charge at it.

But bulls will go for cloth of any colour; they may even be colourblind!

They aren't, they don't care what colour it is. They are more angry with the man who is sticking those swords in it's back and sides. The matador winds up the animal by waving the cloth at it. You could wave a sausage at the bull and it would charge. I would expect the bulls to be wound up by people backstage also. Anything to entertain the sick people who watch the murder. Sick. The bull suffers for well over an hour, bleeding from the swords which are left hanging, before they then stab it between the horns to finish it off.

Bulls are not attracted to any color. As Spain loves to use the color red for its bullfights, most people think it is the color that does the trick, but it's the movement of the banner. It could be a yellow or orange or fluo green or any other color that draws attention.

If you would be in a wood and all is still, where would you look at ? At those leaves that would make some movement. We are all attracted to things that move.

Bulls are not attracted to the colour red. Bulls are colourblind. What bulls are attracted to is the movement of the cape, which is red through tradition.

They're not attracted to the color red; they're actually color blind. It just so happen that when bullfighting started, they were using a red cloth and it stuck. What they're attracted to is the movement of the cloth; when you wave it, they see it as an object they need to attack because they're riled up before let out of the gate. They're already mad looking to find something to injure/kill, and the cloth is the object they can attack. This is why a bullfighter can stand 3 feet away from them, and the bull won't charge them until they wave the cloth.

They're not, they are colour blind.

The attraction to the bull is the fact that the rag is wafting about infront of them. The reason it is red is just for the audience

Color blind is a poor choice of term. Bulls are dichromatic; so as humans, they can not cover the full color range. they would confuse red for green, so it is the waving of the cape, not its color, that attracts them. They are also near sighted, so the probable are irritated by a waving object they can not see well.

I don't think it's the color -- I read somewhere that cows do not have color vision. It's the motion of the cape that attracts the bull's attention.
