Not likely. The price of gas futures (hence the retail price of gas) is based on supply and demand. Since we're going into the off-vacation season it should lower to a more reasonable price unless we break out in war or there's further drama and unsecurity in the middle east.

As I understand after Oct. 15 BP will have the pipeline in Alaska repaired and gas will drop in price again. So I doubt it.
Republicans don't have anything to do with gas prices. Wall Street and OPEC drive the price.
