You have to take in account everything - not just the goverment. It is three folds...1) A Democratic Government. 2) A Capitalist Economy. 3) A Socialist People.

People will always move toward freedom, people always want a better life, and people must give to others for their children and their own survival.

People who learn to give, become very successful (family, career, money and everything inbetween) in a free world.

People always want to know the secrets to being successful...well, the biggest hidden secret - is the "Act of Giving". An this secret would apply to any social structure that wishes to be successful.

I think your right. I give everyday to the people in the form of government taxes.

On a more serious note, the act of giving unconditionally, is one the highest forms of spiritual behavior, next to forgiveness. I don't think giving is rewarded by the government or by other people, it is rewarded by God. (if you believe in that sort of thing or you can call it karma)

I have been a giver and a receiver. Most of us are both of these things.

In truth, I feel like you have already answered your own question for yourself. I hope it works for you.

Good Luck and Take Care

Remember give a man a fish? You don't need to give, people need to help themselves or face extinction. This is the only way that a culture, a people and a species can survive.
