I got my google mail from a friend but you can set up a google page using your yahoo name or any email account you have.
you need to be invited to used the gmail and that is the only way. after you get this you only have 2 that you can give out/

You can only get Gmail through invitation; in other words, someone with Gmail needs to send you an invitation to get Gmail. I am not aware of any other way. Ciao!

I think it's invitation only if you google a lot or have a google personalised page

it is availbale in the UK you just get the googlemail.com domain name but sending mail and logging in with gmail.com domain will still work.
it's a legal issue which is why its googlemail.com for UK

for me, GMail came with my Side Kick cellphone, i didnt even know they had google mail.
