The healthy range for your height is typically between 131 and 155lbs. Because you are an athlete, that could skew the numbers. You could have a low body fat percentage and weigh more because you're more muscular and muscle weighs more than fat (comparing the same volume muscle to fat). If you are concerned about your weight, I'd suggest talking to your doctor.

I'm 5'8"...I weigh 153. I'm sorry, but I'm not fat. Mathmatically, you're supposed to be 100lbs for every five feet, plus three pounds for every inch after that. So technically, you should weigh about 130 pounds, give or take, depending on your bone structure. But it's by no means overweight, nor does it make you fat. Besides, if you're an athlete, most of that is probably muscle. And muscle weighs more than fat.

Being sixteen, you still have a bit of baby fat, and maybe even a bit more growing to do. I know it seems important because you're in high school, but if people are telling you you're fat, they're not people you need to keep around as friends. A real friend would not tell you you're fat, but would help you if you asked. You're fine the way you are!!!

the normal range for the Body Mass Index is 18.5-24.9. If you are 5' 8 then your score is 23.6 and if you are 5' 9 you are 22.9. Either one (or in between) is well within the normal range. Plus if you are an athlete a lot of your weight will come from muscle.

The best way to determine if you are carrying too much fat (rather than your actual weight) is to have your body fat measured by your doctor, gym, trainer etc or use one of those electronic scales that reads your body fat %'age.

Another good indicator is waist measurement. If it is over 32 inches then you could be putting your health at risk - under that and you are ok.

No that seems to be perfect weight to me. I looked at a BMI calculator and put in what you said above. This was the response I recieved:

"Based on the height and weight entered, the BMI is 23.6, placing the BMI-for-age at the 79th percentile for girls aged 16 years 0 months. This teen has a healthy weight."

No, it's not overweight at all. As well as that, because you are an athlete, it probably means your body fat percentage is quite low. Take care : )

It doesn't matter how much you weigh because muscle weighs more than fat. Have you doctor measure your body fat percentage. That is a more accurate and trusted way to determine your health.

No. No you're not. Those people are probably just jealous that you're in better shape and could kick their ***. You might have a large frame and people often mistake that as being fat because well, people can be really stupid.
