What anti-Virus/SpyWare are you running? and have you run a scan recently?
I can recommend some good free downloads for you.
I am presuming it's virus related as you seem supprised that it crashing so I guess you have played before with no probs? If it was computer replated you probably have seen messages pop up Low on Virtual Memory?
Feel free to e-mail me with further info.

Try Diskcleanup to remove any junk files. and do a defrag..
to do Disk Cleanup
Start >
All Programs >
Accessories >
System Tools >
Disk Cleanup
and let it run, when it's finished and you get a new screen appear tick all the boxes and Click OK.. (the whole process may take a while, but if takes over an hour cancel and try again)
To do a Defrag
Start >
All Programs >
Accessories >
System Tools >
Disk Defragmenter
And click Defragment
once again a defrag WILL take a while, so best to leave it running and go watch TV for a while. check back every so often to it will give a % complete. it it takes over 3-4 hours press stop, then try again.

My old PC used to crash if it got too hot. Have you cleaned inside it lately?
Check the fan is clear.
Get a can of compressed air and give a good puff round to clear it.

I had the same problem.
It turned out that the vent intake was blocked on the outside and also dust was clogging it up on the inside.
The answer was a blast of compressed air through the vent inlet.
The amount of dust that came out was unbelievable.
I have not had a problem since.

Well, first of all, try to determine in what kind of situation does your PC crash on you. If it works perfectly except when certain programs are used, then it's due to those programs. Then you may want to re-install the programs again.

If the games on it are high graphics games, you may be required to update your video card. Also, you may need to increase your RAM.
Check the card first, that may be the source of your problem.
Cheers and Good Luck.
