I'm sure there are close-minded people on each side of every argument.

Political discussion seems to have gotten particularly nasty in the past few years - with lots of unwarranted personal attacks.

I think the liberals seem more vociferous because they've been out of power for several years, and have built up a lot of bile. The spewing of same indicates a decided lack of self-control, but are you really that surprised?

For the goober immediately below me:

close-mind·ed (klsmndd, klz-) or closed-mind·ed (klzd-)
adj.
Intolerant of the beliefs and opinions of others; stubbornly unreceptive to new ideas.

Perhaps you should consider the purchase and use of a good dictionary. Or, perhaps, you were simply trying to give us an object lesson in intolerance.

Because we TRUELY love America, the HISTORICAL American ideal, and our Constitution, which DEFINES the very things our country is all about.

You folks are SELLING US OUT to foreign interests, diminishing our rights, changing our Constitution, and acting out of fear, instead of logic.

Your opinions are DESTROYING everything America has always been and stood for, as well as the respect we have always earned from the rest of the world. You ATTACK, but play victim. There's something seriously wrong with your grasp on reality.

Some liberals are intolerant, but it's not because they're liberal. Some people are just like that, no matter what their political persuasion. Plenty of conservatives are hateful and intolerant too.

When I check out questions and answers in Politics and Gov't it appears that, for the most part, the opposite is true. Consistently there are conservative questions and responses that are intolerant, simple-minded and senseless.

I have wondered that also. My observation has been that, in general, they seem to attack anyone with an opposing view rather then have on open debate and respect for other people's opinions. It's really quite amazing to me.

Some of the answers you have received already are perfect examples. You pose a question about them so they attack you further illustrating your point.

Do you mean opinions that area condemning democrats as not being "true americans" and the like? Maybe it is because the GOP is using dirty tactics like that, shame on the GOP.

'Cause their daddy is, too!

The Children of the Devil
John 8:42Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. 43Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? 47He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."
