YOU say he is doing his DUTY to his Country -- and leave it at that. Yes, the mail runs behind -- and that is true.

Honey, lots of my friends/family have already served over there. They all have down time and ways to communicate. My brother was told the same thing and he managed to call his wife shortly after arriving as well as when he got settled, and he was doing convoy missions. The mail also isn't three months behind anymore. It was in the beginning, but they have a better system down. Just make sure everything is addressed exactly as it given to you or it will be sent back.

It's going to be hard, but keep your chin up. The security aspect of confidentiality only lasts until they are in the location of where they are suppose to be. Once that's established, he'll be able to contact you at least weekly, if not more. I do recommend sending him with a laptop. It'll make for easier access instead of waiting his turn, when they do reach a camp that has internet access.

Tell your husband we give him a huge thank you!

Something sounds fishy about this story. It never took more than two weeks to get mail from the US to Iany part of Iraq and from Iraq to the US. Have you spoken to your husbands CO about this cuz even the Marines at Falluja had phone and internet and they were in one of the most dangerous and primitive places in Iraq.

It is unfortunate but it must require silence in order to keep him and all the others safe. Granted it is inconvenient but how would you like to be explaining to your children that daddy won't ever return because of the leak in security? I am sure the military has established a mode of communication for families. Check with his squadron.

Unfortunately, that's what you signed up for when you married him. It will be rough, but I'm sure you can get some emotional support from other military wives or services the military offers for families.

That has to be hard!!...Have no suggestions....wish they would just bring them all back and let those people fend for themselves. Can't imagine what ya'll must go through when the father of your children is gone a year or more....Thoughts and Prayers go out to your family that he comes home safe to ya'll....

It's part of being a military wife. I should know. You need to be stronger now for your husband and children. Support him by standing up for what he's doing for you (and us). I thank him, and you.

You tell the family what you just told us. Of all people, your loved ones should be the first to understand.

Just tell them that is the norm for security reasons and they do have groups of spouses in the same situation that you are in that can give you support and help if you ask

Thank You to your husband for defending our country.
Thank You to you for supporting him to do it.
I will say a pray for your children and their dad's safe return.
I would explain it to them the same way you posed this question.
