I'm having trouble figuring out exactly how many songs Bob Dylan has written. Surfing through all of his albums makes it difficult to figure out because of duplication etc..

If you take this list: http://www.bobdylan.com/moderntimes/lyrics/main.html and count the number of unique titles, you get about 464.

The stats I have from Bob Dylan Bio site is 500 plus songs written. However, he is just as prolific in poetry and other writings. He is truly a poetic genius and a living legend. Folk, Blues, Gospel, he can and has done it all. And still going strong! You can see a list of most of his songs, and those on his newly released album, bobdylan.com (the list of songs is up to date date so obviously not all songs are necessarily published.)

One way to find out is to first determine who his publishing company is and through them you will be able to find the copyrights to all of his songs. Usually the publishing company works in conjunction with the record label.

That would be a hard one to answer, because there are probably 100's of unpublished/unreleased songs. Along with different versions of the same songs.

I'm not sure if we'll ever know. You see, I have a hunch that he doesn't publish everything he's written. Although, go to bobdylan.com. they have a list of all the lyrics, but haven't included his recent material yet.

We are all magpies..Bob no less...But 2,341 songs so far......I came in late..I hated his voice and his 'harmonica'....But as an adult my head got turned, no easy feat I will tell you....When I found out..An American Legend..Genius Man!
