Because socialists and communist have a negative rap from WWII and the cold war.

What's worse is that they deny the socialist influences from the communist and socialist parties.

Oh, and don't forget the Nazis were socialists

It is the same reason Conservatives deny their nationalistic agenda. The liberals don't want to be labeled communist and the conservatives don't want to be labeled Nazi's.
Let's face it, anyone with an opposing view point is going to portray the contrary view in a negative light. Isn't that what the Democrats and Republicans constantly do to each other? And isn't that why Americans are sick and tired of partisan politics?

We don't at all.

It's just a shame you neo-cons are too ignorant to know the difference between socialism and communism. You have always CONVENIENTLY confused the two, every since Senator Joe McCarthy in the 1950's. McCarthyism ripped this country apart, and here you folks are at it again.

Some of the biggest LOBBYISTS profits are at stake, which threatens the under-the-table payola your politicians get. That is why your party denounces and misrepresents the whole socialized-ANYthing idea. If you had a proper education, you'd already know that.

Assumes facts not in evidence. You make it sound like a bad thing. Still looking for commies under your bed, are you? Nothing wrong with a share-the-wealth philosophy. Too bad not a single "civilized" society, including the "socialist republics" have been able to achieve that kind of communal harmony.

Anyone who thinks socialism would work should take a look at history and look at the cold war between the US and USSR, who won, and who is still here? Next comment, socialism is each is provided with what they need? How do the receive it, by working. Thus Capitalism, where every man works for a wage that they use to buy what they need is socialism. Ergo the whole capitalism/socialism debate is pointless. 3rd, if you have to decend to calling people nazi's or commie idiots, then you are missing the true spirit of debate, I strongly encourage you to vote ross perot and have a good day!

As I've never heard a liberal (except for Bernie Sanders, so-called "Independent" of the People's Republic of Vermont, who styles himself as a "Democratic Socialist") even use the word, I'm not sure that the DO deny it.

They're usually too busy telling you how much they CARE, how they FEEL, and other beside-the-point nonsense that will have no meaningful effect upon the real world. Sad, pathetic Weak Sisters is what I call 'em.

I'm not a liberal but I do have a socialist agenda and proud of it!
I don't see anything wrong with social justice for everyone.

Why won't conservatives admit to their fascist agenda. It is very plain to see.

Are You Stupid your name suits you because the Nazis were fascists not socialists.

Socialist programs work by creating a happier, more unified populace. See most European nations for examples.
