I find the aluminum ones to be difficult to piece together. Leaning towards plastic. They fit together very well and are easy to work with. But do they leak? Do you have to seal them with goop?

I have both. They have been on the house for many years. I really like the plastic. They do not bend and look really good. Mine have gotten leaks but they are easy to fix with caulking. They will not dry out and crack. They look a whole lot better than the aluminum ones I have. I'd definitely go with the plastic!!!!!

I think with the scrap value of Aluminum I would go with Plastic! Someone might steel your aluminum gutters!

Plastic works as well as aluminum

Plastic is cheaper and much easier to work with. It's also lighter. I put plastic gutters and downspouts on my home and they have lasted for more than 15 years.

We have plastic gutters and downpipes - and have had them for about 20 years on our house. They're still strong enough to lean a ladder against and then climb it!

They're much easier to work with - we unblocked a downpipe a couple of years back by just dismantling a section and hosing it out - it took no time at all!

It depends on your climate, I live in Phx, AZ and plastic would not last under the extreme heat. However if you went with plastic take the extra time to seal them, better safe then sorry

Plastic dries up and becomes brittle after some years.
I would go with aluminum.

down with gutters and downspouts. too much work for so little gain. let the rain fall off the roof onto the ground.

Metal is more sturdy. You would have to seal the plastic.
