Buy some regular old mouse traps. Put peanut butter on them and check them dailey. This way you know where the dead ones will be. If you use those saftey traps with a cover, Put some peanut butter on the hinge, way back inside. That way the sneaky mouse has to step on the trigger to get more food if it doesn't spring on him right away.
Good luck

I tried by myself after mice got into our attic when a construction site was next door. I bought traps and they worked OK but I kept getting mice without letup. I tried glue boards and they were worthless. I finally called an exterminator and they were gone very quickly so it didn't cost much. They used traps with peanut butter for bait. They also found the hole where mice had climbed up the outside wall to get in and closed that opening. (mice are great climbers and can get into holes about the size of a quarter).
Keep in mind that mice breed very quickly and that for every one you see there could be 50 you don't see. So don't take a leisurely approach or they will be out of your attic and into your food.

You can purchase these small green bars in a package at Walmart that you can throw in the attic. The mice eat them and go away and die. You can use mice traps or glue traps as well. It is up to you. Usually cats will kill the mice anyway, so your problem may be solved in a few months not using anything. Good luck.

If you want a live trap you might be able to find one at the hardware store. Moth balls help; behind the fridge, stove and in the basement are good places to put them. If you're using a spring trap things I've used that work are peanut butter, peanut butter M&Ms, and cheese. Strangely the cheese was the least successful for me. If all else fails get a cat or hire pest control. In the long run pest control is cheaper than a cat.

Totally the cats! Two cats in that attic will clean them up the natural, no cost way better than anything. Cats are the most agile of creatures. Mine can walk on the edge of the wash tub in the basement, and it's about 1/4" wide. They won't get hurt in there. And a lot of cats LOVE heat.

Here's what I do: I make a paste of peanut butter and flour, form it into a little ball for bait (cheese is for cartoon mice), drop a ball into an empty 2 liter plastic soda bottle, and smear a small amount in the inner rim. Then I stand the bottle up with stuff around it to keep it standing. The mice will smell the bait, go down into the bottle and be unable to get back out. You can fetch the bottle later and leave it far from your house so they can escape.

Put a trap out that will keep the mouse alive, let it go and follow it
It will lead you to it's entry point. Then stuff the hole with steel wool, and cover it with a metal grate and seal it with foam sealant, or staple it to the wall, then cover up with dry wall or what have you. Leave traps out in the rest of the attic to catch the mice that were not in the hole when you covered it.

My first thought was get a cat. Why won't you let your cats do the job? Oh well. How about a couple mouse traps. You can get the disposable ones so you don't even have to look at the mouse if your the squeamish kind.

get a rat trap (they are bigger than mouse traps). Put some peanut butter and cheese on the trap...you will catch the mice very soon.. Lay the traps against the walls not in the middle of the floor.
try to remember where you left the traps cause it will stink if you catch on and you dont pick it up!
oh and set the traps up at night...

Try gumdrops on mousetraps. Push on metal clip. when mice eat their teeth stick to it and trap will go off when they try and break free. Also check into "bug bombs" for attic. that will do the trick. But you'll have to search for mice or you will get an odor.
