I'm specifically talking about Katrina, if you had a million dollars to help them, what would you do? (build shelters?, provide food?..etc)

I would not donate the money to any organization because it always gets washed away in politics. What I would do is personally go down there make deals with banks and buy lots and build homes for peoples and give them the keys to their new houses. No filtered money that way .100% goes to them.

I would donate to Habitat for Humanity which has a real and proven track record for helping families.

In the past year…

Nearly 1,600 structurally sound homes have been cleaned out.
More than $125 million has been pledged and donated.
More than 32,000 volunteers have registered.
340 panelized house-in-box frames have been completed and shipped to the Gulf region.
120 families are now living in newly completed homes.
230 homes are now under construction.
Nearly 700 lots have been acquired.

I would not ONLY help victims of Hurricane Katrina, since there are a lot of other people that are homeless in the US due to various other disasters.

Buy their property for a substanial over value price so they could relocate somewhere else so I could keep the Gov't from taking it under the Right of Way Act , or have a bank use the EMINENT DOMAIN SIEZURE ACT.

I would try to do what the U.S. Government should've done in the first place.
