My husband is installing duct work under a house and came across these leeches and we want to find out how to get rid of them. If anyone knows how can you please let us know. The owner of the home also has a leaking pipe from their kitchen. We think that is why they are there. But, how did they get there in the first place?

That's the first thing that I told my husband was to use salt. I will call his company and tell them. He is terrified of going under houses already. Hopefully this will work.

Leeches require a moist/wet environment to survive. Eliminate the water/moisture and you will eliminate the leeches. Hire a plumber to fix the leaks in the plumbing.

Good luck with your problem.

Well, you obviously can't use fire, so salt is your best solution. Just make sure the cause of the problem is fixed. Some other acidic things might work too, my mom used lemon juice to get a leech off my foot once. If your husband is afraid to go under houses now have him carry salt packets in his pockets. He can use 'em if he runs into the little things again.

Leeches are water-dwelling creatures and congregate where there is standing water, like in a swamp. Make sure the piping is not leaking anywhere and both the house and yard have proper drainage.

Sheesh, that's a very good question!

Since it's under the house and not anywhere plants are suppsed to grow, try salt.
