If you do, why can't you eat chocolate or have coffee?

Most women with the disease find that the caffeine in chocolate, coffee and soda cause the breast tissues to become sore. Caffeine is a stimulant and can cause water retention among other things. I find that if I keep my intake low I can have them occasionally with out the ill side effects. I can have caffeine free soda and small amounts of chocolate and decaffeinated coffee (still has some caffeine in it). Check with your doctor first though.

The caffeine aggravates the condition, and increases the inflammation (and therefore the discomfort and pain) associated with it.
