Everybody is a waste.

I don't really think that it is a waste at all. Entertaining others is not the easiest thing to do. I don't know if you've ever been involved with theatre productions or not, but it is not very easy at all. It takes a lot to get up in front of people and be the only person speaking.

And it can't be a waste if the entertainment industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. There are obviously other people that feel that there is a lot more to it all than people pretending to be others. I know that you are talking about film and theatre, but what about comedians? They don't have to pretend to be anyone else. They just tell jokes. The thing is that those in entertainment are trying to entertain us. They want to make us feel something through them, or they are just good looking and want to make a lot of money, Either way, it's a job. Everyone should do what they are good at.

People have sought out entertainment since the beginning of time. The ancient Egyptians, Romans, Chinese, American Indians-nearly every culture on the planet-have looked to other human beings to entertain them. If people want to be amused, entertained, distracted, whatever by another human being's actions, be they "pretend" or not, good for them! Whatever it takes to get through the day and have some happy moments. If someone has the skill to take us to a different place through "pretend", and they have a willing audience, I don't see that as a waste, no more than listening to music or reading a fictional story.

Except to entertain which can be very valuable. They make the most money by far than say teachers, police or firemen, government officials. Some people don't think it's a waste at all. Do you not watch TV or sports?

Well, let's see.

Perhaps some of them earn way too much money for the job they do, but imagine your life without them...it wouldn't be as lovely as you may think.

Are there no singers you like to listen to? No comedians you find funny? No movies you enjoy watching? No people that take away your cares, if only for a couple of hours?

This is what they're for - to make you laugh, cry, feel, to help you express what you find difficult in your everyday life, to give you enjoyment and release.

It's really not complicated, and most decidedly NOT a waste - it's vital.

We excist beocuse there is a demand from the general public to be entertained by others. This need to have a perfromer dates back to the dawn of culture.

People want to enjoy the craft and creative works of others, so entertianers exsist to fullfill that need.

If you don't see that need, thats fine, but from now on, you are no longer to have any music, TV, internet, books, movies, concerts, comady, theater, etc.. in your life. They are all created by entertainers. I agree that there is a surpluse of useless second rate people who should look get out of the buisness, but there are many good ones who have given to culture and society.

Is a painting by Georgie O'Keefe "Pretend"?

Is a song by U2 "Pretend"

Are the writings of the Bible "Pretend"?

We "live" Our lives, as they unfold are history being made....

Entertainers are mirrors of our lives.... may be not your life... but life in general.

Yes, some entertainers should probably consider getting vasectomies, such as Pauly Shore and Andrew Dice Clay, but in the grand scheme of things, even they have a place in the universe.

I can't believe that you have never been entertained by anyone ever before. Even if you lived in the farthest remotest place on earth, you would find entertainment somehow, even if you were to play a game of charades with yourself.

They are essential to life. They re-live, mirror and anticipate the society in an entertaining way, thus combining the several roles of the other professions and vocations.

So I am assuming that you just sit in your house - never watch TV, never watch movies, never have been OUT of your home to see any kind of entertainment, right? If this is not true, then you are an idiot because you have just contradicted your own silly thought process.
