Not the thin fish nets that are for decorating. I want to use a heavy heavy guage netting as a garden cover for somewhat of a shade.

Heavy guage netting is used in commercial fishing and is very heavy when wet and hard to manuever. Sounds like the black screen in Friend's suggestion would work as well but would be much lighter and easier to use. If you have your heart set on commercial nets, you can check commercial fishing supply stores.

Here in California I'd try Outdoor World. They have a great line of fishing products. If they don't carry what you need, ASK them for alternate sources. If the clerk doesn't know, go up the chain of command until you get some info.

They have a bunch of them on Ebay - some specifically for decoration - just search fish net.

Lowe's home stores carry a product that's made explicitly for shade. It's in the garden section. It comes in green and black.

I covered my Raspberry, Strawberry, Pumpkin, Melon, and Squash, with the black fiberglass window screen material. It lets just enough light in, and works as part shade.

Try contacting a fabric store. If they don't carry it they may be able to order some for you. Good luck!
