My advice is to learn about your body and conception before trying to conceive - granted it seems most people are unaware of these things, however that is not a reason to go without learning these basics, particularly when you will have to teach these things to your children when they grow up.
There is no 'best time of the month to conceive' you are only fertile for around 30% of your total menstrual cycle, if you don't have sex during that time you do not get pregnant.
To conceive you need three things; sperm, egg and cervical mucus.
You ovulate once per cycle normally with an egg that lives for up to 48 hours, normally ovulation occurs between days 12 and 16 of your menstrual cycle, day 1 being the first day of true bleeding on your period. During ovulation the body temperature changes, the cervix also softens and opens, producing cervical mucus, these are the most common ways to detect ovulation, however some women have secondary ovulation signs such as ovulation pains. Cervical mucus is produced so that the sperm to reach the egg they need a medium in which to swim through as well as to keep them protected from the acidic environment of the vagina, this is the purpose of cervical mucus and normally occurs five days before ovulation up until ovulation, with cervical mucus sperm can live up to 5 days.
The best way to conceive is to use methods such as Fertility Awareness Method [FAM], this is where a woman charts her daily basal body temperature, cervical mucus and cervical position to determine exactly what her body is doing, not only when you are fertile but also when your period is due and when you are pregnant without the use of home pregnancy tests.
FAM is also used as a highly effective form of birth control and a means to determine reproductive health problems, in the case of conception this helps determine any fertility problems so they can be treated.
FAM also has the advantage of assisting in sex selection; the Shettles Method is where sex is timed to coincide with fertile period so to heighten possibility of conceiving a girl or a boy – the male sperm (carrying Y chromosome) is fast but delicate, where as the female sperm (carrying X chromosome) is slower but resilient, sex timed just before ovulation insures the faster male sperm reaches the egg first, thus producing a male child, where as sex timed during fertile period before ovulation means that male sperm will die where as female sperm survive within the cervical mucus to make it to the egg, resulting in a female child.
The best way to learn FAM is to get the book – Taking Charge of Your Fertility: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement and Reproductive Wealth by Toni Weschler – this is a very good guide to using FAM you can get at most book stores and sites from between £10 and £15, there is also a web site that accompanies the book – http://www.tcoyf.com
FAM can be learned alone using books and web sites, or you can contact your local health authorities or doctor to help you find a local trainer in FAM who will be able to teach you how to use the method successfully, there is a lot of information on finding a trainer on the web site Fertility UK - http://www.fertilityuk.org
FAM is also cheap in that past the book you only really need to buy a basal body thermometer, these I have seen for as little as £1. Although FAM can be hard to learn at first it's benefits are life long, and within a few months of using FAM you should either be pregnant or know why you are not pregnant.

Other similar options would be to use CycleBeads that are beads that show your fertile and none fertile days, Boots also has an ovulation kit which consists of a little case with charts and a basal body thermometer for £12 that would be similar to FAM, NFP and other ovulation methods but without as much attention to detail – which you do not really need if planning on getting pregnant. You could also go the more hi-tech route by using computers such as Babycomp or Persona that will both tell you when you are ovulating – I do believe you can also get ovulation testing kits, however these are not as accurate at determining when you are fertile.

Another idea which would be simpler and cheaper, although not as effective, would be to use basic tracking methods and charting these in a calendar or online, there are a few web sites around, most will work on a method similar to the Rhythm Method where it determines fertile days in accordance to your cycle and previous cycles – i.e. your last period was on day x, your next period will be on day y, so your ovulation will be on day z. This is similar to saying that you ovulate on day 14 of your cycle, although in a regular typical cycle this would be correct (ovulation around day 12-16) if you have irregular cycles or simply your cycle is not set to this pattern this can do little for you and end up with you having sex on the wrong days, not falling pregnant and believing there is a fertility problem where there is none.

Your fertility returns to normal supposedly as soon as its removed. The guideline i went by was to have sex every second night during a month then you are sure you wont miss and best time. All women are different, they have different cycles, some ovulate in the middle of the month others the end etc. Why do i know, i have four children and we worked hard to conceive each and every one. Just remember to enjoy each other and not make it all about conception. Good luck

it may take a fertile couple as much as a twelve months of attempting to conceive. except you're over 35 a fertility health center won't even see you till you have been attempting for a minimum of close to that long. After purely 3 months they could likely giggle at you. Even older couples are advised to attend 6 months. provide it time maximum folk do no longer look to comprehend that gettin pg isn't frequently an on the spot element.

To get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.
After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.
After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.
Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

Go to the pharmacy and get one of those special thermometers that tell you when you are ovulating and ask the pharmacist to explain how to use it. Better still, go to a specialist pharmacy and get an electronic one that you put in your ear to check your temperature - they are great and accurate. Again the pharmacist will tell you how to use it. Some people have an unusually high or low normal body temperature, the pharmacist can check that for you. Good luck!

14 days after the first day of your last period. Obviously this isn't exact for everyone and can vary by a few days but if you have a lot of sex from the 11th day to the 17th you should get lucky. Good luck.xx

Wait for your next period to start. Once this happens go to google.com and type in Ovulation Calculator. This will ask you to put in your periods first day and will calculate what day or around what day you are most likely to get pregnant.
Good Luck

The best time is anytime from when your period is stopping. but it depends how quickly you release eggs and how quick the sperm are. Just do it all the time, relax and don't worry! My first son I conceived the first time we tried, my second son it took us 6 months to conceive, so don't panic if it doesn't happen immediately. Relax, enjoy and good luck!
