I heard this on Yahoo Answers somewhere and I wondered if it was true.

Yes, because technically any webpage you go to, your computer is 'downloading' the site content. These webpages you go to and copy the codes from probably infect your computer with adware or spyware through cookies or temp files.
I suggest using Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. Empty your cookies regularly and do system cleanups at least once a month, especially if you're using that myspace whatchamacallit.

some of them yes....you really have to watch it with those sites. I tried to put a cute "online now" icon on my page but apparently I ended up getting it from a baaaaaaad site. When I put in the code & went to view my page to see the icon it just showed a stick figure getting decapitated & bleeding everywhere & it said OWNED. I was like "oh crap!" Lucky for me I just had to delete the code for it & it was fine. I'm just leaving my "online now" as the default one that myspace has.

yes you can even get a virus from Yahoo! answers....any link any download any site could have a virus waiting for your computer...if you know anything about computer you don't need to worry.

Yes, viruse can be embedded in those codes.
Scan everything you download and make sure you have a good anti virus program running.

yeah! anytime you download something from the computer it could have a virus. You need to scan everything you download.
