It will not charge the battery and says "invalid battery" if I try to charge it or use it but everything else works fine. Has anyone else had this problem?

Is this a software fault that can be fixed by a "master rest" from the tools menu? I think I will lose all by contact numbers and pics if i do this.

The problem happened after it got damp. Can it be a hardware problem (ie. phone is scrap)?

Sound daft but try to borrow someone elses battery and see if it charges then...could be you shorted the battery out when it got damp ... 2nd then try a diff charger unit.....my patner dropped his in the bath and it stopped working dryed out in 4 months now its fine lol...also son put his threw the washer and knackered the battery..phone was ok after a new one you never know might be a easy fix..hope so.
As regards master reset ..save all you contact to the sim then any info wont be lost..master reset only resets the phone to the manufacturers standard it wont affect the charging..

As per my experience with mobile phones, a master reset wouldnt help. Master reset, usually just reconfigures the software to a default setting. These are settings like, backlight brightness, ringtone, where you store your numbers etc. Your problem sounds more like a hardware problem. Best thing to do is take it to a phone vendor unless you are good at hardware stuff. Before you do, try charging the phone again, but make sure that the battery compartment is completely dry.
hope you get your problem solved.

if it got damp, then you have caused internal corrosion somewhere.... try a new battery (ebay £6) or a new charger... if any friends have that phone, ask if you can fiddle with theirs to find the problem.............................
