I currently live in Fairfax, VA (for those that aren't familiar, it's a suburb 18 miles outside Washington DC which is very developed with shopping, real estate, etc). I am looking to relocate to the Philadelphia area at the end of the year, but not within the city limits to avoid city wage tax. I'm looking for a developed suburban area with a good amount of young professionals, that offers a lot to do (shopping, restaurants, etc). I don't want to be too far from the airport because I travel for my job. I've considered Conshohocken, West Chester, and areas along the Main Line (also KOP). If anyone has any insight about these or other areas, I'd really appreciate it!!!!!

Try Dresher. It is upscale, convenient to a train that goes to airport and to Philly center, adjacent to Turnpike, near great shopping in adjacent Willowgrove, and with excellent school system.

Glenn Mills/Concordville, Delaware County is a nice community with a very well rated school district, (Garnet Valley). It's closer to the airport than West Chester, but you will pay more for real estate and taxes. Areas around West Chester are very desireable, (Thornton, Lenape, Chadds Ford), all of these communities are local to key shopping areas, and business parks, yet far enough from industrial or high crime areas. Before you consider Conshohocken or KOP, know that they are areas that always dominate the traffic reports during rush hour.

West Chester is a good area. So is Conshohocken. You might like Media, Swarthmore and Springfield as well. You might even look in Northern Delaware.

Lived in Philly most of my life. I moved to Delaware 32 mile commute to work but well worth it. Delaware has 0% sales tax low property tax. And you get more home for your money then the PA. burbs
