I watch a lot of forensic files...on CourtTV. There are many weirdos out there and most of them are good actors that will seem nice and decent to lure you in, but they really aren't, I wouldn't risk doing that, a free ride could cost you your life.
I be that if you ask a total stranger on the street to loan you money for a bus ticket after you tell them you plan on hitchhiking your way there, I bet they would give you the money without even thinking about it because it is not safe to hitchhike these days.

If you have no money what will you do when you get there? If you have someone on the other end willing to take you in then perhaps they can send you money for a bus ticket?
A one way ticket on Greyhound bus lines from Columbia, SC to Greensboro, NC is only $45.50. Surely you can find a way to earn that much money - if nothing else panhandle!

What I would do is if there is a college near by go and see if the have a ride board, and catch a ride with someone who is going home for the weekend. This way you have the name and number of ther person that you will be riding with and if anything bad were to happen the police will be able to track down your killer, and maybe even find your body.

Peaches....you shouldnt try anything this risky...You would be a mark or target for the first bad person out there...you wont make it there and probably end up ..well dead?? Is your Life really worth taking a trip? Just wait it out ...save the money...take Greyhound or some other value driven option but positively dont risk your Life...Ok?

Absolutely not. I'd rather get a job at McD's and work until I got a bus ticket, than put my life and well-being in jeopardy like that!
