Actually, the pronunciation comes from the French, and should not sound like (a pool) cue, but "coo".

I don't say Cue-pon, I say Coo-pon. I don't really find it as annoying as some other pronunciations, but I think Coo-pon sounds nicer than Cue-pon.

My mom taught me to say Cue-pon. Maybe its a regional thing. (Midwest for me). But I, on the other hand, HATE to hear people say COOPON. I can understand your frustration because I feel it too. Only the other way around. Funny, huh?

I'm from the south. Most people say "cue-pon". To me, "coo-pon" sounds pretentious!
