For w*nking alone, I'd say this actually isn't usually the case. In fact, I can crack one off in well under a minute (and it's not bragging for me to say it because I know I'm not the only woman who can easily do this!).
I appreciate there has perhaps been a tendency in the past for women to take longer to come during sex with a partner than men. However, I'd say this gap is closing as women become more emancipated and our sexual pleasure is increasingly (and rightly) seen to be of equal importance to men's. I think we're more likely to explain and demonstrate what we want and, in turn, men are more motivated to pick up on our signals and work harder to find methods that can work quickly and effectively if time is lacking and a quickie is called for.
In my own experiences with men, slowness in either partner is mainly dependent on 3 factors: stress levels, wastedness and, most importantly of all, whether we've already come a few times that day.
Not that there's anything wrong with being slow. Sometimes you don't want to rush anyway.
Added: I like the majority of these answers. Very heartening!

It's how you are approaching the area. It's easy for a guy to plug in and pop, but a woman's vagina has many sensitive receptive nerve endings all around it and the clitoris located top and center being the most sensitive part is most often not stimulated properly. Some women orgasm from outside touch, others from within the vagina. Look up sexual health topics and those on relationships and what experts say about achieving sexual excitement and fulfillment. You guys can just expect a girl to pop, thats why many fake it so that you can feel as if you did something.

females frequently have a tendency to have longer activities than adult men. in spite of the undeniable fact that it relies upon on their mood on the on the spot. too a lot foreplay, lengthy anticipations may reason very quick orgasms too. In my experience, youthful women attain it simplest yet some distance too lengthy. Older ladies >28, have a tendency to get that some distance longer in spite of the undeniable fact that the era of orgasm is shorter. I had a experience the position a woman loves afterglows better than orgasms which lasts longer than her first and second orgasms. Jerks like mad...

Evolutionary defense mechanism. It signals that the male is taking too long to inseminate and will produce offspring that are inferior in there ability to pass on their genes. When a woman orgasms her body produces chemicals that make the vaginal environment more alkaline and less favorable for sperm to live.

Because the purpose of the female orgasm is to promote absorption of sperm - coming before the man kind of puts the kibosh on that. At least, that's the theory.

When I masturbate I can have an orgasim in less than a minute. I also orgasim a lot faster than my husband. I guess that comes from all those years before my husband, having sex with men that climax before me, I felt like it was a race, if I wanted to get off, I had to hurry. I think it's a mental thing. During sex, men are thinking about sex, women tend to get hung up on their performance or they way they look.

It all depends on
A. The partner (if he's crap he's crap!)
B. The woman herself
If a womans not comfortable with herself she wont be able to relax and let go.
Not only that men are impatient, they seem to want to finish up too quickly. Where as women prefer to hang on to the feeling and let it build up into a big explosion :)

My girlfriend has had a dozen or so orgasms inside half an hour, and the first one was within 14 seconds of 'starting.'
How fast are you?
