Get a degree in economics or finance and go to work for a 'Wall Street' firm doing back office analysis first.

Most financial consulting is sales, meaning that a large part of your pay will be based on commission. In order to do it you'll need to be hired by an investment firm (Vanguard, Ameriprise, etc.) and then take/pass your Series 7 and 66 exams.
