What, do you think, is the reason for the black-on-black crime epidemic?

Where does the hatred come from that we would kill our people first over anyone else. And so frivilously. Over disagreements over women. Because someone bumped someone without saying "excuse me"

Examples (I grew up in Detroit BTW)

-A young girl was at a downtown club and got into an argument with a man inside. When the girl left, the man pulled along side of her and shot her dead

-A few years ago at Belle Isle (a local hangout), a few silly guys were spraying people with water guns on a hot day. A girl got mad and told her boyfriend, who later shot and killed the guy

-At a local female gay bar, a woman gets into a fight with another woman and subsequently runs the woman over with car, paralyzing her.

-Obie Trice (Eminem protege) gets shot on the freeway by a car of men

-Proof of D12 lost his life after he shot another man over a pool game

The list goes on and on. What do you think is the reason? Can it be stopped? How?

I do recognize that other races kill eachother too. But, i'd like to see these statistics that show that black on black crime has dropped "significantly". I work in a lawfirm and have access to court documents and there are dozens upon dozens of murder 1s, 2s, felony murders, attempted murder, carjacking, etc. all black on black. So, that's where my basis comes from. I'm not just speaking out of my bumhole. :)

Poverty, no proper up bringing, lack of self worth, self loathing, fear of being made a fool of, fear of looking like a punk or coward if they don't fight back, etc...The list goes on and on...

Until we start realizing the worth of a single life and stop all the foolishness we will never advance as a people...

Actually crime in the african american community has dropped significantly over the years and isn't as bad some think. There are lots of asian gangs, hispanic gangs, and gangs in the caucasian community, but we rarely here about it that often because it's not marketable to the media. I know when i watch the news at night I always see if there is a shooting involving blacks, the newscaster will always say something like "It's possible this incident is gang related", I don't see that type of reactin much when it comes to a shooting in a white school or community. It's sad that people think we are the only ones out there killing each other.

Many liberals and conservatives say that black on black crimes are so prevalent because "we" are simply violent by nature, Because "we" are oppressed, or because "we" are duplicating the violence seen in films, on TV, or in the lyrics in ganister rap.

But if you really think about it; the punishment violent blacks receive when their victim is white is far more severe than if the victim is black......doesn't this send the message that black lives are expendable? You tell a man that his life, his brother's life, or his neighbor’s life is worthless and he will revolt. He will begin to hate himself, internalize his anger and strike out against all that he as a Black man represents…He will strike out against another Black man! Other contributing factors are gangs and drugs. Remember these Black men already have no respect for a “law” that has a total disregard for them as a whole so they are trying to prove their manhood, their worthiness to be even be considered a man..not just to Blacks but to the law that demeans them on a day to day basis.

I am definitely not justifying Black on Black crime; or any crime for that matter, but I do think that society; the law; the government, needs to take a responsibility for the madness it has created

I really think it has at least something to do with the general culture of the Detroit area. (I grew up there too, lived there till I was 30 before I could finally afford to get out)

People have a need to feel powerful. If someone feels discriminated against, they may still be racist against their own people. This type of person feels doubly insulted if a minority even gives the appearance of disrespecting them.

So they respond in a totally outlandish and over-the-top manner to try to recover their self-respect.

I suggest to all reasonable people to stay out of inner-city nightclubs, to avoid altercations of all kinds with all people, because there are crackpots all over the place.

Well if one lives in mostly black neighborhood there is no one else to get into altercations with. Also u know how it is to live in a tough neighborhood sometimes all u have is ur rep and if that goes down the drain then u r screwed. Not saying its right but thats how it is.
