Hi there!
I have asked myself that before...If it wasnt placed so accesibly, there wont be any problem...Can we tell those keyboard manufacturers to get away with the CAPS LOCK?or, if they just cant, try moving it a little farther, say beside the power buttons...

You may need to type a lot of text in capital letters. With the caps lock key, this saves us holding down the shift key whilst typing, letting us still type at a fast speed.
I have thought myself though that there could be an option on the computer in one of the menus somewhere (or next to the Underline, Bold and Italic options as a shortcut) which enables you to type in capitals this way. Sorry if this is already a feature somewhere. Then we could do away with the key for good as it is very annoying when you hit it accidently!!!

I would say it's mainly for coding (namely anything that will get an error if it's in lowercase) and people who need to write a lot in capitals (poster design for example, although not a good one I admit).
I would suggest either a keyboard that has a fifth of the Caps Lock key cut down to give space to the left of the A key, or to pop out your Caps Lock key.

I can understand why it is annoying but for me I write a lot of html code, I do it in with the caps lock button on, then write the text in normal type that way if I need to edit something its easier to identify. So I would be lost without it as holding the shift key up would waste time for me.

u just type in all caps and after u finish typing go to Format and click change case, select Sentence case and press OK. where ever u want to type in capital just do it separately while formating.
second option u just throw away the caps lock key, it will not type in caps, after u finish just select the the words u want to type in cap and click Format, change case, UPPER CASE and after all OK.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\KeyBoard
Layout\Scancode Map
you have to either use a tool or manually enter the registry to disable caps lock if you have no experience using the registry i suggest using software above is the reg key needed to disable the CTRL key
