I am 24 weeks pregnant and I went to the dr. earlier in the week and she wants me to have another ultrasound done because she thinks that I am measuring too big.. at 20 weeks when I had my first ultrasound done he was just right on target 12oz. Now she says that I am too big. I was just wondering if anyone has been through this and what the outcome was.. I am not really worried my first child was 8lbs 6oz. and I read somewhere that boys tend to be around 6-8 oz bigger.

I had the same thing -- the docs thought I was measuring too big, kept telling me I was going to have my baby early, but it turns out I had him on my due date and he was 8 lbs 5 oz.

As you can see by reading all of the answers....EVERY woman is different. I don't think it would hurt anything for you to have an ultrasound just for piece of mind. Listen to your body, you know yourself better than anyone else. If you feel like something is wrong, get it checked out. If you don't feel like anything is wrong, and the doctor mentions that he/she wants to check it out, let them (as long as it's not a danger to the baby.)
In reading your answers it's funny, because some say they had the same experience and the baby was small - one says the second baby is always bigger (my first was 8lb 7 oz, my second 6lb 11oz) - yet all of them are right. You just have to remember you are different than anyone out there, and together you and your doctor can decide what is best for you and your baby.
Best wishes for a healthy mommy and healthy baby :)

My daughter was 9lbs 5oz and 22 inches long. They induced me because they did not want me to go past my due date. I ended up after 2 days labour, I had a c-section. I kept telling the nurses, the baby was going to be large, my fetal assessments all said so, but the last assessment, she did not take into consideration that I was gestational diabetic, and she estimated small. after the fact she said that if she were to take that into consideration, it would be around 9lbs. I pushed for hours, and then finally delivered my daughter by c-section, again they did not estimate well, and made the incision too small, and tore my uterus. Now I will have to have any more kids by c-section. Make sure that they are accurate on judging the size of your baby.

I had a friend whom had an 11lb 8oz girl natural. I thought I had it rough.

Doesn't matter though, once you see that baby for the first time, you will think that nothing else matters.

Yes, I got unusually big at 5-6 months and the doctor ordered an x-ray (no sonograms back then) to see if I was having twins. Only 1 girl, 8 lbs. 4 oz., and I only gained 17 lbs during the pregnancy.
