You need to have all your friends post a link to it. Try to get linked on any sites that have links to common interests. The search engines base position partially on how many links they find to a site.

Several marketing strategies:
1-) Send a link to all your friends via email
2-) Have your site be part of your signature at the bottom
3-) Try posting your site in forums/free boards , community boards such as yahoo, craigslist and google
4-) Make sure that in your site you have correct tagging of things and that you have links to sites for people with similar interest
5-) If other friend's or colleagues have sites too try to convince them of cross-linking (This means you link to their site you link them to yours.
