Maybe you should introduce yourself! I believe the sound of a zipper going down should be sufficient.

I think the first question is to ask, is why the participants are having open air sex. From the responses so far I see that "open air" is being interpreted as "in a public place"
People have sex in public places because they enjoy the exhibitionist aspects of it.
The implication is that they do not mind if people watch.
As to participation, I really think you should wait for some sort of indication from parties before joining in.

These remarks are of course only true if there is an alternative to having sex in a public place. In many benighted countries (especially in the anglo-saxon world) the law is so restrictive that hotels that rent rooms by the hour do not exist, or hotels/motels require the production of identifying documents.
In these countries therefore there may not be alternatives to sex in public. In which case back off.

Finally humping with the sun on your bum and the wind freshening up your testicles is quite enjoyable in itself, but sand in delicate places is less so.

not it is not wrong. I think it is totally hot. If you see them scrambling for clothes because they saw you, then they shouldn't have been in the open but if they see you and just keep going, then they want you to watch. If they wave you on, then you can join. Most of the time couples who do that are doing it for show and not for participation. I have done this many times and rarely do I invite someone watching.

I think that open air sex is fine as a fantasy, very exiting, but it's wrong...
There are beds, sofas, cars and hotels to have sex, not the open air :P

I personally would not join in. But then I would not go to a cruising ground either. It is your decision and you have to live with the consequences

Sex in the outdoors is hot to do and if you discover a couple engaged in this you should discreetly remove yourself so as not to intrude. If they see you and motion you over they are inviting you to either watch or partake. And that is up to you. If they see you and begin scrambling to cover up then the best course is to hastily remove yourself from this potentially embarrassing situation, I do not think a couple caught in the act in a public place should ever get angry about it they are after all in public and the threat of getting caught should be part of the thrill of the act itself.

Each to their own. But do it somewhere there is no risk of my 3 year-old seeing it.

As for open air sex in general, the only downsides are thistles, hedgehogs and sunburn ;)

well, watch and not taking part in open air sex between guys could mean two thinks : (1)you don't like it (you are probably straight, or they are not your type), or (2) you are voyeur... :) I don't think the word "wrong" goes with either of these two things...

if it doesn't bother you or them and you're ALL consenting adults, then who cares. i'm not going to argue on the whole right or wrong of public sex (i'd be a hypocrite!) just be careful the backlash is much worse now than ever, including arrest, your name in the paper, being ostracised, even losing your job (or marrige)

I think it's only OK if the setting is truly private or desolate. It is not fair to possibly have people come across sexual activity that are not expecting it.
In a private setting, I think it is fun.
