First Catholics do not worship Mary. We respect and honor her. We pray to her and ask her to pray for us, just as when we pray to the other saints. WE do not worship anyone other than God. God is God. God is the Divine Trinity. That means that there is one God, who is three persons. We have been taught that God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost). Would finding out that God was at least part woman destroy the Catholic Church? No.

God is God, neither male nor female.
Anyway the Catholic Church is doing a very fine job destroying itself with or without God's help.

I think its highly possible. Knowing alot of the laws of the modern world. are based upon the Catholic religions commandments, probably wouldnt change them any, nor would i think change the belief in GOD, you have those that will believe irrespective of what you tell them, and you will always have those that dont. I guess it comes down to a matter of faith and how strong your faith really is.

I have heard Catholic priests claim that God is neither a man nor a woman from the pulpit during mass. As far as I know, the world did not collapse from this claim.

I think it might.
However if you look at most of the religions before catholicism, they worship(ed) a female. there was even the trinity before "God," the maiden the mother and the crone. In fact alot of chirstianity seems based on (and much changed) a more Goddess based religion.

God is God.

God, by very essence, is neither a "he" nor a "she" but is pure Spirit.

God's revelation is as a "male" in relationship to human beings
God chose to reveal as "Himself" and as
(a) the husband of Israel
(b) the father of Jesus Christ
(c) and, in Christ, as being the groom and the Church as the Bride of Christ.

It should not destroy any faith. We must understand that God has the characteristics of both man and woman. That's why it is stated in the Bible that "lets make man in our image." Man here represents both man and woman. I am a girl, I believe that my traits of loving my children the woman's way is Godly.

God is neither male nor female, God is God. God is referenced as He due to cultural mores and expectations.
