Montreal they have won 23 since the stanley cup was born.
Edmonton is wrong they only came into the leauge in 1979

24 Stanley Cup's - Montreal Canadiens they have won it in 1915-16 season in the National Hockey Association but the Cup turned pro in 1910. and then the NHL was founded in 1926 and they have won 23 Stanley Cup's since then. so the total of Stanley Cup's is 24.
The Stanley Cup trophy was awarded annually from 1893 to 1925 for amateur competition and since 1926 for professional play.
remember the Montreal Canadiens where founded in 1909, they are older then the NHL, actually they had a team 17 years before the NHL was even founded, and in the 2008-09 season the Montreal Canadiens are having their 100th anniversary, and it would be nice to make it 25 Stanley Cup's on their anniversary.
Henri "pocket rocket" richard has won 11 Stanley Cup's all with the Montreal Canadiens. he played from 1955-56 season till he retired in 1974-75 season.

Montreal by a long shot. Not only have they won Lord Stanley's cup the most times. They have won more championships then any franchise in any of the major sports. (Yankees are second)

Actually John the Yankees are 1st with 26 World Series Championships. The Habs have won the cup the most times though with either 23 or 24 depending on how you want to make your deterimination.
