I've been to my doctor, who put me on the pill for irregular cycles, and on iron to build up my hemoglobin. I'm also do not each meat, but I do eat dairy. I'm about 30 pounds over my target weight. I sleep generally about 8-9 hours but wake up feeling seriously exhausted and regularly go back to bed (for about an hour) an hour or two after getting up. After 3PM I'm usually okay, and when I get back from work at 11PM I am usually wide awake for another hour or two. But the mornings are just exhausting. I don't get outside a lot, but my job requires me to stay on my feet for the entire 8 hour shift and so I do a lot of walking on the job. I really don't know what to do but I'm completely exhausted for the first half of the day. With school to do, this exhaustion is getting to be a disaster. I don't know why though? I'd appreciate any help.

First a few questions: Is this something that came on all of a sudden? Have you always felt this way? How's your emotions, stressed, depressed, dazed? And do you eat regular meals? Do you go to school and work?

If this is happening regularly, you should change something and see if you feel better. First I would start with the mornings. Because you work at night, your body clock is off, and when most people go to work right after they get up, you wait several hours before you have to get moving and working. So, try getting up when you feel rested, and going for a walk in the sunlight in the mornings. Sunlight will actually wake you up and give you some Vitamin D. Even if you sit in the sun, that could help. Second, if you work and go to school, I would seriously consider cutting back on your schedule that is too much. Third, I would make sure that you are eating 3 well-balanced healthy meals, especially breakfast. Try to limit your sugar, candy bars, and pop as they give you many calories but no nutrition. Fourth, I would see if your symptoms match anything like mono, CFS, or sleep apnea with a doctor's visit. Tell him what you have tried and what has worked/not worked. There's not really a pill you can take for fatigue. It's alot of hit and miss guesswork.

Could you have mononucleosis (aka mono)? I'm sure you've heard of it - the kissing disease - but it can be transmitted other ways too. I was diagnosed with it when I was 17 - and the only symptom I ever had was excessive fatigue and tiredness. I never got a sore throat or anything, I just wanted to sleep - a lot.

There are other possibilities, too. Are you sleeping completely through the night? Do you wake up often? You might be getting what seems like a lot of sleep - but if it's not deep (REM) sleep, then you won't be rejuvenated when you awake. You could talk to your doctor about sleep aids if that is the case, or other lifestyle changes.

Probably, what you'll want to do, is go and talk to your doctor. He or she will probably ask you questions about your sleeping habits and run some blood tests.

I hope this helped... as a college student myself, and an employee, I know how important it is to feel awake and alert. Good luck!

Take good vitamins and look into detox, especially for heavy metals
Instead of going back to sleep - sleep 7 houers and force your self to get up - shower or whatever works - and do a 30 minute workout. It will energise you! You will loose weight and feel better. Then, eat your Special K , and go to school!!

Crikey theres someone else who feels just like me!!
My doc thinks I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (M.E). Personally I think it's an Underactive Thyroid. Look both of them up and see what your symptoms tally with. You have my sympathy by the way, I got up at 7.30 (30 mins late!) went to the gym for an hour picked my daughter up an hour ago and now it's 4,15pm, and i'm sooo ready for my bed! x

Your diet may be lacking in protein. Ask your Dr. to put you on a healthy diet for vegetarians. As much as you don't like the idea, eating meat could solve your problem. Are you taking a multi purpose vitamin? Consider eating chicken and fish.
