No.

Pentium D Processor ( or any Pentium Processor, for that matter ) is not similar to a Celeron Processor, in anyway.

You can upgrade your Celeron Processor to a little more faster Celeron Processor.

You can do this easily if your System-board ( Motherboard) supports an upgrade. But clearly a Pentium D or any other kind of Pentium is not advisable as it may actually cook your Motherboard.

You may be better off if you are willing to change the whole motherboard to the one that will support a Pentium D ( or a similar Processor). This should actually work.

You will need a new motherboard. It has nothing to do with 32-bit vs. 64-bit but the physical socket on your board. You need a motherboard that has a Socket 775 mount for the new processor. The one you currently have is outdated architecture. Also you may need new RAM as well since the new board may require DDR or DDR2 if you still are using regular SDRAM.

You need to find out the motherboards manufacturer. After you find this out, go to their web-site and you can find out there how big of a processor you can put in it. My EMachine has a celeron 466 and the company who built the motherboard say's I can go up to a 500 so what's the point. You will undoubtedly need to get a new mother board to do what you want.

No. You gotta get a new motherboard. Old processors rr 32 bit while the Pentium D is 64 bit. In short they rr incompatible.

so simpple ur celeron cpu is some thing that can fit in 478 socket
and ur wished cpu is some thing that need fit in Lga775 Socket
then u cant match ur wished CPU( pentium D) on 478 socket
but if u want to know more ,look,u can find so many pins on ur cpu and they go in ur mother board socket but ur pentium D cpu has no pin ,instead it the LGA 775 has pins
then celeron cpu with so many pins
Pentium D perocessor with no pin
:)

Not only will you need a new mother board , depending how far you want to go , you may need new ram "ddr2" and perhaps if your thinking of going that far then a sata2 hard drive to go with it, no point in addding one part and losing speed with an older part.
