is at some way to blame for the uprising of home grown terrorist activity here on UK soil? Do you think if we were not to stand shoulder to shoulder with the US, the July 7th bombings would have happened anyway?

Actually I don't think that is the case.
I believe we would have been hit eventually.
Going into Iraq, in the manner that this Government took us, has it's problems. It has exasipated the problem.
Blair has a lot to answer for, for towing the Bush line!

What concerns me more are, the reasons for going into Iraq were all fabricated, along the same lines as in the US, an alliance of lies between governments, that has dramatically shaken public confidence, towards politicians, in Britain and America.
Britain has no where near the wealth of the US, and the public finds itself taxed to the limit to pay for wars, that public opinion never wanted.
The July the 7th bombings would still have taken place, because the Islamic extremist's target, is any country that is not Islamic, no matter what the foreign policy is.

I don't think it is right for people to attempt to justify terrorism on British soil because of Britains foreign policy. It has however had some effect. Britain in the past was seen as "fair" in it's approach to the middle east.
However the perception now is that Britain is strongly aligned to the USA who in turn is strongly aligned with Israel. This ultimately leads to some people (wrongly) believing that terrorism is justified.
Simple answer: if you don't like British policy, join the political system and influence policy through a proper democratic process (like the British jewish people have done!).

Nope, our policy is not to blame and yes, inevitably, there would have been an attack in London, but maybe not on the 7th of July.
The attacks on 9/11, Kenya and Mombassa (excluding all the bad s**t that has happened in Kashmir, India, Israel, Sudan, Malayasia, Indonesia, the Phillipines, and so on...) were all before Iraq and Afghanistan. There are Muslims all over the world that support a very conservative, draconian interpretation of the Koran and our foriegn policy has little effect on them.

As an American....
Yes I think it would have happened. There is no logic in militant radical Islam. They are waging war on the "infidels" which include America and our friends in the UK. Jihadists will wage war on anyone that is not in line with their beliefs.
I am grateful for the friendship the Brits and Americans share. In spite of a good natured rivalry, Ive no doubt that either nation would stand shoulder to shoulder in support of one another in a time of need.
America took an isolationist approach to European affairs in the late 30's early 40's as Hitler devoured western Europe. Its my belief that if civilized nations do not unite to fight radical jihadists the problem will escalate to a breaking point beyond what we comprehend. Just my opinion though and Im not always right.

No, I don't think Britain's alliance with the US is any way to blame for Islamic terrorism. Jihadism has been growing for decades. It's very likely those bombings or others much like them would have happened anyway. For all we know, there could have even been more.

terrorists were coming no matter who was in charge. dont you see that they were planning 9/11 for years and that the terrorists have be busy for a long time? they are going to go after every country like ours, just give them time (and i am afraid they have time enough already) look at their list of evil deeds, it is long and ugly. britain stood by america because they know exactly what it is like to not do something. they learned from ww2 that they have to stand up and fight for right and good. they did then and we helped them even when the american people were convinced isolationism was the best course of action. it took an horrific event, pearl harbor, to get americans into action and 9/11 had more fatalities that that. uk knew it was only a matter of time, as it was with hitler, so they acted with the u.s. and rightly so. i have great respect for the british. they dont take any crap.

Britain's unwavering alliance with the US is the ONLY reason the 7th July bombings took place. Our foreign policy is atrocious.
We should never have stood shoulder to shoulder with the US when invading Afghanistan and Iraq. We should not have stood shoulder to shoulder with the US when failing to call for a ceasefire when Lebanon was being destroyed. Had we not pissed off the entire Arab world we would have not seen carnage on the streets of London. When will common sense ever prevail.

I would rather stand with the US than against them. Love em or hate em they are the new Romans and if you know your history as this often repeats itself Roman favoured those who embraced her, God help those who stood in her way!
- as for the bombings on 7/7. they would of happened as islam perceives England as part of the west and has decided to wage war against it
