The Rock. He could have entertaining matches, was funny on the microphone, was great as either a face or a heel, and was very charasmatic. Even though he had his catch phrases, he could still keep the crowd guessing and entertained with his promos. And he never really became stale as a character.

Stone Cold, on the other hand, is a stale character. Every time he appears it's the exact same thing. He insults someone, and then stuns them. Very dull to watch, and makes the wrestlers look stupid (did you really expect Stone Cold not to stun you? Have you not been watching wrestling for the past 10 years?). It's all the same. Name his best stuff when he wasn't in a match, and it was always the same. On Saturday Night's Main Event, he stunned Bradshaw in a beer drinking contest. When he came back when Raw switched back to the USA network, he stunned the entire McMahon family. He stunned everyone. Very dull.

But the biggest reason why The Rock was better: He would put other wrestlers over by having them win, Stone Cold would not. Stone Cold left the WWE at one point because he wouldn't lose to Brock Lesnar. He lost his title to Mankind (who lost it to HHH the next night on Raw) at Summerslam in a triple threat match because he wouldn't lose it to HHH. When the Rock and Stone Cold were feuding for the Intercontinental title years back, he wouldn't lose to the Rock then. The Rock though, has lost to many of these guys, and was willing to put anyone over. Heck, the month before he won his first title at Survivor Series, he was pinned by Mark Henry!

That is the sole reason why the Rock was always better than Stone Cold. He put the business ahead of his ego.

Even though you obviously like Stone Cold better. I have to be truthful and say The Rock. The Rock was a good wrestler and an awesome entertainer. Stone Cold was a good wrestler but didn't quite have the charisma that the Rock did.

That's a really good question. The Rock had less of an ego, better mike skills, didn't mind doing embarassing things occasionally for the sake of entertainment, and wasn't afraid to lose to put over his opponent... but Austin was a character that more blue-collar fans could relate to, because he symbolized what they all wished they could do... kick butt, take names, drink beer, and beat the crap out of the boss. In truth, he was more of a "people's champ" than The Rock because his character resonated with the people better. Even though he was fairly demanding in contract negotiations and title changes, and sometimes predictable, he's the standout in fan popularity.

Both are good entertainers, but the Rock's abandonment of wrestling for a movie career has hurt his longtime fans. He had previously said that he'd never fully leave wrestling, but it seems the only time he ever shows up is when he's pushing a new movie.

This is a tough one! Very tough! Two of my favorite past wrestlers. I would have to say The Rock was a better entertainer. Not the better wrestler, but the better entertainer. Stone Cold has several good, repeatable catch phrases, but I think The Rock had funnier catch phrases!
