I feel it is important to have good self esteem but at the same time it seems that so many people go overboard and really think a lot of themselves. I personally would rather be around someone with low esteem than someone who is overly sure of themselves. I am turned off by a person who describes themself as very attractive or in very good shape. While that might be true, I think they should leave that opinion to others. It makes me feel inferior to them because they think they are so hot. I have often found these people to be exagerating too.

I don't think high self esteem means a person is a braggart or anything, I think its a separate issue. A person can geniunely think they are a good person and a worthy person without having to shout it to the world. I think a lot of times the people who are most vocal about these things are actually pretty insecure with themselves.

You are correct, in my opinion having to much of anything is out of balance. I do believe that it is good being self confident about oneself but boasting is a big turn off. I found being humble always works better because beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It sounds to me as if YOU have low self-esteem. People with low self-esteem generally feel threatened by other people who are comfortable with themselves.

High self-esteem does NOT equal arrogance. Quite the contrary, people with low self-esteem tend to employ arrogance as a means for trying to feel better about themselves!

A person with high self-esteem means that they are comfortable in their own skin, and are furthermore comfortable and tolerant of the people around them.

Please take a course or get some counseling.
