Why is it that minorities are the ones that won't let racism die?

Why is it African Americans get BET, United ***** College Fund, NAACP, but if caucasians were to start a WET, United Caucasian College Fund, or NAAWP...You would never hear the endless cries of RACISM!!!! RACISM!!!!

Does that strike anyone else as a double standard. (and don't use the "slavery" thing...pretty much everyone was a slave at one time..whether to britian, egypt, or farmers).

Blacks have the opportunity through affirmative action to beat out those "white" people who have degrees for positions they are unqualified for...and to get into college...and to get it paid for!! Yet the income is that low??? There are not that many blacks in college??? Have you asked why those statistics are that way instead of just using them to gain the "poor me" effect?

You answer the question by pointing to non applicable "statistics", but I noticed you left out the statistic of crime rate...there may be 1 ***** in college for every ***** in jail?? Thats because of the african american crime rate. Why is the african american crime rate so high? If it is hardship...it is called a second job...not robbery or drug dealing.

My question is about why can't people let it die...and I think that has been answered by some of you and ignored by others.

I"ve been called a race traitor for some of my views but I do have agree with some of the things you said. I think that there needs to be NO double standard or racism will continue to exist because people will continue to resent blacks because they feel they are getting racially-segregated funding, etc. and blacks will continue to resent whites because they resent that fact. It's a paradox.

True, a lot of these institutions were implemented back when there were definitely needed. While there is still racism today, it is no longer restricted to whites. I've seen more racists blacks lately than anything. Comedy Central is a prime example of the blatant public acceptance of reverse racism.

Yes, it is a double standard and many blacks will fight me tooth and nail about that. I think that when we stop making such a point about race, we can move on as individuals.

Like I said before, our identities is made up of race, of course. However, our identities is also made up of our personal choices and those, a lot of times, have much more power over what happens in our lives than race or anything else.

Some people just still choose to dwell on the past and sadly, they'll never really live.

This question makes me laugh. NO white college fund?? are you serious?? no white power groups?? are you serious?? sounds like you have too much time on your hand. If things are so bad, why dont you be the leader and start calling for changes yourself? Why dont you start a news network (mind you ALL of the except one are directed at caucasians so your station would be lost in the pool of those tv networks), and anything you think that would "boost" your race's standing in society?

I for one think that you ca either be a part of the problem or part of the solution and talking gets you nowhere.- so where do you stand?

I say go for what you nkow- if you want MORE rights than you already have- work together to get there and leave other groups alone. Why worry about what your neighbor is doing if you have no kahonas to fix your own area?

The last time I looked, there were not only Blacks being shown on BET and not only Blacks that benefit from the United ***** College fund so obviously these organizations are not promoting segregation or hate but showing the race of people who own or started them. I am a fan of the show Friends, Sex in the City, Cheers, and The Honeymooners where there were not many or no Black people in the show and I am not screaming racism because I watch a show based on quality not to count how many Black people are in them.

I would like to address this. Now, let me start this off by saying that when I speak of white people, I am not speaking of every, single white person in this country. But I say go ahead and have your WET, your United Caucasian College Fund, Your NAAWP. Hell, have the Klan. I don't care. But all we ask is that you do not teach hate against another race just because of the tint of their skin. White people are so caught up with other races that they lose sight of what is really going on with themselves. Teach your children self-love and love for others. For every 1 blackman in jail , theres 2 more black men in college.
For every white man in jail, theres 28 more white men in college.


I used to think your life was strictly all about your choices, but being in this country longer and uderstanding the cause and effect of certain kinds of behaviors, I have to adjust that kind of thinking.
Racism still exists in more muted forms in black people and in white people.

Any one thats says "slavery is over, get over it" is a big fool.

Effects of slavery are still very much present in the black community, directly and indirectly.
It permeates the choices black people make and how they live their life. It permeates the opportunities for black people in very subtle ways. It still has an impact on how far black people will go in their lives, putting the same exact effort as a white person.

So until those numbers start to even out, it is absolutely fair that black people have groups like BET, United ***** College Fund, NAACP and others.

A victim of abuse takes a longer time to get over it, the perpetuator usually prefers to forget and pretend like it never happened.

Because they think they are still being victimized by racism which is probably still true although less than it was. But I hear you and i think it's now a political ploy and an excuse for not working hard for what you want.

But there is a lot of racism on the south where I live now. Way more open about it than NY.

I understand why you'd think this makes sense, but trust me, many minorities need help to manage through the world and get on with things.

The UNCF helps. BET is harmful and exploitative. The NAACP is sometimes helpful, sometimes just a tool for other groups to discriminate more.

The dominant culture has been intolerant, and that's why these organizations spring up. I'd like to see more help for poor whites, as I feel they are discriminated against as much as minorities.

But you forgot to mention affirmative action, which is a government sanctioned program that gives college entrance and job preferences to some one just because they are a minority.
Translation: "Oh, you have a .03 GPA, but you are black? Welcome to Harvard University.
And don't worry about tuition, we'll take care of all that for you".
