This is a tough one. It really needs to be overseen by the daycare provider and they need to be consistent, and both you and they need to be consistent with each other. At 11 months old, it's probably a teething issues (as opposed to 18 months - 2.5 years, when it's a communications issue.)

Do you give medicine for teething pain? Using Tylenol, Motrin, or Orajel may ease some of the pain which is leading him to bite.

Other than that, the big thing is to keep reinforcing that "we don't bite our friends."

Good luck.

all kids this age bite- it's their only way of communication since they dont talk. if day care kicks him out then that is just wrong, they need to keep a better watch on the kids and when they do catch a child biting then they need to explain to them that it is bad. don't worry kids grow out of it, went through it once and i am going through it again.

It sounds like the daycare operators need to keep a closer eye on him. Is he teething? Make sure the staff knows this and make sure that you have teething gel and Infant Tylenol in your diaper bag for them to give him, along with a note stating when you gave him his last dose. The staff should know how to handle this.

i know this might seem cruel but he will never really understand y u shouldnt do it and it affects ppl when he does it unless....... u bite him. not viciously but just do it out the blue and apply a good amount of pressure and then see how he responds. ask did it hurt, was he scared, was it nice of u to do that to him, how does he feel and then switch it arouund and lert him know how u just felt is how the kids uve been biting feel when u do it to them.
