Prince Anton Meridian and Prince Pierre Meridian were young co-rulers in the middle ages. When they could not agree on some basic ideas for their kingdom the Regent assigned the first part of the day (AM) to Prince Anton for his exclusive ruling and the second half of the day (PM) to Prince Pierre for his exclusive ruling. Sadly they killed each other in a duel at the stroke of noon. From then on, noon was always referred to as "The Meridian" by the Regent who took over and proclaimed himself the next King.
