I think WH Audens 'Funeral Blues' is probably the most touching, poignant summation of feeling for a lost loved-one ever written, (See 4 Weddings and A Funeral), and if I'd been aware of it at the time I would have read it at my fathers' funeral - it said everything I was unable to.

Does that make me gay?

I think liking gay poets/writers etc just means you are able to appreciate human emotions. Life is never so simple as your question seems to assume.

No more than my going into my garage makes me a car. Actually, I like some works not because the authors were gay but because they did great works and the authors happened to be gay. Tchaikovsky "conveniently" married, hiding his inclinations from the public and composed some of the grandest of music since Mozart. I appreciated his music long before I read that on the bio sheet for an album I bought. I am not fond of Truman Copote, but I appreciated some of his very well-written stories long before I heard "he was one of those." While I am known by several as a homophobe, I have friends that I truly appreciate who are homosexuals--not because of their homosexuality but because of their human, likeable selves.

There was a fiction a few years ago about a young man who felt that he had psychic powers. So he went to the library to read up on psychic powers. The librarian alerted their equivalent of the thought police and the young man narrowly escaped with the realization that it was a trap to catch people with latent psychic powers. Promotion and interest in the works and persons who are gay does not make or even indicate that a person is gay--most of us, some exceptions I am sure, are not so shallow.

Only you would know if you're attracted to the same sex. If so, just come on out! Why not? Half the nation has! If you don't feel that you're attracted to the same sex and you just like hanging out with them, I don't see what a big deal it would make. Me and my ex-husband lived next door to a house full of gay people and we use to go to shows where they would dress up like stars while they got on stage and performed. I use to walk down the street with one in particular just to go to the store. Oddly enough the men would always blow their horns at him instead of me. But it was all good! Life is short sweetie! Do You! Don't worry about who's talking about you or worry about what people think. Try to be happy everyday of your life. Because some days can be real downers.

Take care!

No, I love Oscar Wilde and Chuck Palahniuk and David Sedaris... But just because they're gay doesn't mean I am. They're amazing writers first- they just happen to be gay- what difference does it make?

Enjoyment of the arts is not indicative of being gay although it is true gays are on average greater participants or patrons to the arts, be it writting, film, dance etc.

I listen to music by straight singers, vocalists, whatever, does that make me NOT gay?

It doesn't, it just means you have different tastes in stuff, not that you're actually attracted to the same sex.

NO

What you enjoy reading has no relation to what you are.

Is someone who enjoys murder mysterys a murderer?

Is someone who enjoys Tolkein a hobbit, or wizard?
