Humans dissipate heat at a rate of about 100 Watts, or 100 Joules per second. So 170 people will produce 17 kiloJoules of heat per second. If the room is small, and there is no ventilation, the temperature would quickly rise to a stifling level.

i heard somewhere that an average human leaks around 40 watts of heat.
