generally speaking, how does one find a gp if one is new to a neighbourhood?

i would like to know what resources there are on the internet. is there a directory of some sort? or do you just have to ring around?

Go onto the nhs website. They'll ask you for you're postcode and give you you're 10 nearest GP's, dentists or even pharmacies.
