I tried telling her that I like to hear from her but would rather hear what's going on in her life. But all I seem to get is inspirational stories about preemies, gas boycott notices, pseudo-patriotic essays, etc. etc.

I don't want to make her mad...any suggestions as to some polite words or actions to take?

at least she is sending you something, but if you don't like the junk mail tell her again that it gets you all excited when you see you have mail from her and it lets you down when you open it to find junk mail. you would love her to send you an e-mail bout what she has done in the day , and how things are going in her life. good luck . x

I had this happen and told my friend. She listened and stopped. You can always set up a junk email like hotmail.com and give her this email address. You can ask her to send them there because your other one keeps getting filled, or you can say you have a new email address and let her assume you cancelled the other one.

I had a friend send me an email similar to this. I didn't take offense. You can state something to the effect of "I love receiving personal emails from you, but really don't have time to look at all forwards...".

Send her an email saying "Next piece of spam I get your email is added to my junk list and all emails will be blocked". Tell her sorry, but your tired of all the junk.

I always tell my friends if they send me that crap I'll kill them, but whatever.
Reinforce that you've already asked her NOT to do that. Say something sweet, like, "I appreciate that you think enough of me to share things that you enjoy, but..."

If she doesn't get the hint after that, give it one more shot - ask if she has another email address that she DOESN'T forward junk from, and tell her that you're going to block the one she's been using to fill up our inbox with crap.

I know it's tough.
Kindly email her and say that life is busy and although you appreciate her thinking of you, and that you love to hear from her personally, that your email box is full enough and it's hard to get through all the junk mail. Ask her to please remove you from further distributions. Good luck!
