Does anyone in the state of Idaho know if a unmarried teenage girl can force (tell the male) he has to sign his rights away as a father or she will charge him with rape? He is eighteen, she is fifteen and had a relationship for a year and she is three months along and no longer wants him in her life. He would like to be a part of the baby`s life and help her financially. She continually makes threats and changes from week to week about filing rape on him if he doesn`t sign his rights away.

Statutory rape charges not withstanding, it would be extremely hard for a DA to see his way to prosecute that if they had a relationship for over a year. Dumb, yes, but not worth chasing in court.
My best advice to you, Mom, is to get your son an attorney on retainer, and have him contact both the juvenile and her parents to discuss joint custody and child support after the child is born. A pre-emptive strike, so to speak. Have to ask, is your son sure he's the father of this child??? A smart attorney will tell you to wait and get a paternity test then go to family court to settle it.
No one can force someone to sign away their parental rights by intimdation or blackmail. The family court will take a very dim view of her behavior doing that.
Criminal extortion is the same as blackmail, threatening another party with a loss or injury if they don't do as you say to do.

Hey, you do not know for sure if you are indeed the Father of the unborn child. I'd wait, call her bluff and when the baby arrives, have a DNA test. Does she have proof of a relationship? Learn by this mistake and don't put yourself into a situation of having a relationship with a child that is underage. It sounds as though she is being coached by parents or another person. Do not sign any papers. If so, then she has the necessary 'proof' of statuory rape. Don't be foolish..........think about this.

If he goes to the Police first and tells then what is up. Yes there is a possiblility that he will go to jail for sagitory rape and have to register as a sex offender. But if he signs his rights away he will never get to see that child!!!!!! Hard choice. I know that as soon as she had that baby, I would kick her *** like there was no tomorrow. That is the most childish thing I have ever heard. You could try going to her parents and explaining what she is doing. Unless you don't get along with them either. Then I would discuss it with your parents and make a decision from there.
Good Luck

If he's 18 and she's 15 then he is guilty of statutory rape. Can she force him to sign away his rights -- absolutely not. However, the girl in question (and/or a parent) can certainly press criminal charges. LESSON: Don't sleep w/minors.

Any such an "agreement" would be unenforceable as against public policy. In fact, it comes close to or maybe crosses the line into criminal extortion.

That's too bad. I'd leave the situation alone for now and check back in every six months or so to see if she's calmed down. I don't think there's anything he can do, but stay away from underage girls from now on.

The call her bluff and don't sign. Let her try to press charges...and deal with it in court.
He should have left the nutcase alone in the first place, she is a minor.
