Did He really know what gravity is?

Most of his life's work, after his "miracle year" was about that. No one has effectively explained gravity.

In some degree he knew, but on the other hand he used to say that there's nothing to be sure about and he believed that every theory may be replaced by the other one. He tried to answer some questions about the nature of gravity force and all the elementary interactions trying to make the General Theory of Relativity, but he failed. He also had a great interest in magnetism of course and he had a deep understanding of it indeed.

I think he knew where gravity comes from. I believe he just couldn't find an equation to prove it. I think gravity and black holes are related ( my personal opinion here).
