A seemingly intractable conflict which perpetuates hatred and death from both sides on a daily basis. A conflict which has ramifications outside the immediate communities and effects global politics to a disproportionate degree. Is there any chance for peace and reconciliation?

I hope so, it happened in NI agaisnt massive odds, but the world has got to accept that there is a problem first. The Palestine issue is so emotive that some massive steps back need to be taken by many parties not, just the main two players. The USA and the West needs to show more undersatnding of the situationand the Arab world must accept the rights of the Jews to live in peace. It will take big men with insight and vision to move this issue forward, but if we do not, the real losers are theinnocent non combatants onboth sides.

While the majority of Israelis and Palestinians would prefer to get along in peace, there will always be the extremists on both sides that see to it all are drawn into a conflict. That being said, unless all extremists can be eliminated, lasting and just peace aren't likely.

I think you may be witnessing the first steps towards it in the call by President Abbas for a government of unity in Palestine. This will hopefully restore the international aid withheld when a Hamas government, which refuses to recognise Israel, was elected. The people on both sides want peace and prosperity. On both sides you have ordinary people who want a future for their children and that can only come by a recognition that they can co-exist to their mutual benefit.

The Palestinians will have peace once they get leadership that will focus on the education of these people and refocus their attention away from Israel and towards their own growth. As long as they continue with their victim mentality, they will always be a lost people. Why haven't they screamed about Jordon, who actually took much more of Palestine than Israel did.

Make them live under one umbrella, a united country of Israel and Palestine, the Israelies muct give up their racist ideology of having Israel for Jews only and the Palestenians should stop blowing themselves and killing innocent people. Look at it this way guyz, the whole world is uniting and the two of you keep killing each other, come out of it people. Let us unite and be one, may we rise up from caste, creed and religon and create a new world, a world free from poverty, disease and hatered.

No, I do not..
If all Muslims laid down their arms today, there would be a lasting peace tomorrow..
If all Israeli's laid down their arms today, Israel would be destroyed and all Jews murdered in less than a month..
No one with any intellectual honesty can deny this..
Now..
Who is causing the problems in the Mid East ?

A well framed question.
The mere existence of Israel is an affront to many in the Middle East. This coupled with Israel's belief that attack is the best form of defence guarantees that the agony of Palestine will continue.

It would take the eagerly awaited "second coming" to sort that sh*t out. Imagaine the first question he/she (well we don't really know now do we?) would be asked. "Haw big man, gonnae ask yer da who's land this is??"
