I know from experience that negative results can turn positive after weeks/months, but surely not suddenly after 30 mins??

They say not to read it after 10 minutes... but ive never known one that didnt get darker as time went on. Like if there was afaint hard to see line it just got darker as hours passed.

But for me, whenever i tested and got a negative, i could read it a week later and it was still without a second line.

If you think it might be a positive, just wait a few days and test again, OR go down to your doctors office and insist on blood work. Its the surest way to know without wondering.

There are NO false positives. And your statement is very confusing:

"negative results can turn positive after weeks/months"

is completely absurd. Either you took a test and it was negative because you tested too early and you were indeed pregnant and a week later it was positive, OR you have taken a test and it was negative because you were NOT pregnant and 2 months later you take another one and it is positive because it just took you longer to get pregnant.

For best results you should take a test after you have missed your period and the test will definitely be accurate either pregnant or not pregnant. And the test should be read within the time estimated in the instructions. If your test turned out to be positive after 30 minutes wait 2 more days and test again.

Yes, that can happen after only 30 minutes. That's why the instructions say to read them within the first few minutes. The line that you're seeing is called an evaporation line, and it cannot be used to determine a pregnancy. If the results are confusing you, or if you didn't get a chance to read it until 30 minutes has passed, you will need to take a second test. The ones with digital readouts are a little more expensive, but they leave no room for doubt with their pregnant/not pregnant readouts.

Good luck!

I know it is practically impossible to get a false positive if the result is read after 3 mins, but 30 mins??? not to sure. Did the line come up straight away or ONLY after 30 mins????? I'd do another and read in in the correct timescale to be sure

Pregnancy tests degrade after a certain amount of time from being exposed to the urine, so the results can't be relied on after the time stated in the instructions. Take another test and make sure that you read the result in the timeframe specified by the manufacturer.

Yes, it can happen. After 10-15 minutes it can cause the other line to appear. That's why they say to read it soon after you take the test. I read mine after about 30 min or so and it said positive and I freaked out. I went to the OB and his test was negative.

A lot of brands of pregnancy tests have evaporation lines, I've experienced them myself, but they usually have no color, they're like gray or something but not pink or blue whichever the case may be. I have heard of negative tests turning positive because the longer they sit there the more hCG is able to be detected, but personally I wouldn't trust it. If it were me (and in my situation I currently have one positive and one negative from this morning) I'd wait two days and test again with the first morning urine to be sure. Good luck either way you want it to go :)

trust it or not yet there are such issues as pretend positives on an HPT yet in basic terms contained in the circumstances of it being a defective product, or that you're receiving some style of HCG injection or something containing the HCG hormone. yet once you've taken more effective than one try with more effective than one diverse style of abode being pregnant try then i will say it really is really danger-free to assert that you're pregnant. Congrats and best of success to you

You should follow the direction and do exactly what it says if you want to get a real result-if the manufacturer says that you should read the results after 5min. than do so, if not than any change on the test should be considered false.
