It depends on ecaxtly what part of the body it be and allergic recaction or water retention.

This is what i found on the web
As you sleep at night, fluids sometimes accumulate around your eyes, giving you that tired appearance. Here are some steps you can take to reduce the puffiness.

Steps:
1. Gently tap the swollen area with your fingertips to encourage fluids to flow elsewhere.

2. Apply a cool, soothing substance to your eyes for 5 minutes to reduce fluid retention. Try cucumber slices; a refrigerated gel mask; damp, chilled tea bags; or a damp, cold cloth.

3. Drink plenty of water. Water retention, which causes bloating, occurs when the body has too much salt and not enough fluids to flush it out.

Overall Warnings:
Visit a doctor if you have sudden, severe swelling in the eye area; it may indicate sinusitis or an allergy.

Tips from eHow Users:
Puffiness around the eyes by eHow Friend
Please do not use preparation H around your eyes. As mentioned by another respondent, it will cause extreme burning and irritation of the delicate eye tissue and truthfully will not bring you the results you are looking for. You should instead use slightly cool compresses around your eye tissue and increase your water intake. Also, avoid excess alcohol as this will intensify eye puffiness.

Alright: Allergy, salt and spices ,and water retention. But depression and too much sleep can also cause it. Puffiness in the face can be from sinusitis as well. Good luck.
