I keep seeing creationists talk about "The Missing Link", and insist that such a thing has never been found.

What, specifically, are they looking for?

Are they simply ignorant of the fossils in the links below (the boring alternative), or is there something *specific* they're looking for that we haven't found? And what could it be?

I've included links only to hominid fossils, as I believe the term "The Missing Link" is used to refer to something about human evolution, not transitional fossils in general.

Given a sequence of fossils like 1, 3, 4, 5, 6... The creationist will claim that 2 is missing. When 2 is found, the creationist will claim 1.5 is missing, ad infinitum.

Every fossil found is potentially a "missing link". There is NO single link in a chain.

Creationists are about as likely to accept evolution, as Evolutionists would accept creation. In other words, neither side wishes to budge from their stance and will continue to badger each other. You're better off attending to more important matters in your life and stop wasting energy on such a futile endeavor.

nicely for instance the following is an ad from the hot Scientist mag even as it needs new subscribers with a view to envision the entire ariticle. the following decrease than are the first establishing paragraphs. "even as Charles Darwin printed on the beginning of Species in 1859, there develop into really little info contained in the fossil record of evolutionary substitute. Darwin spent 2 chapters of his e book apologising for the paucity of the fossil record, yet anticipated that it would want to finally help his recommendations. What Darwin develop into bemoaning develop into the shortcoming of "transitional" fossils - those with anatomical valuable houses intermediate between 2 significant communities of organisms. on the time, such fossils were conceived as "lacking links" contained in the "large chain of being" from lowly corals by more effective organisms which comprise birds and mammals to human beings (and finally to God). We now recognize it really is a false impression. existence does not progression up a hierarchical ladder from "low" to "intense" yet is a branching bush with distinctive lineages splitting aside and coexisting concurrently. for instance, apes and human beings chop up from a effortless ancestor 7 million years in the past and both you spot? there's a effortless ancestor for apes and human beings. And so this is logical for us to ask the question "the lacking link?" Is it bigfoot? What? Edit. the following decrease than the unique link is yet another cite linking human beings to lemurs. the in basic terms difficulty is there's a lacking link between us them them as well the only effortless as Ida in nationwide Georgraphic. it really is what it says halfway previous the middle. "yet there's a huge hollow contained in the fossil record from this time period, Richmond stated. Researchers are uncertain even as and the position the primate crew that contains monkeys, apes, and human beings chop up from the different crew of primates that contains lemurs." Christians are made exciting of for what we trust. yet even the scientists and researchers won't be able to even initiate to sense positive or perhaps particular of the position this meant lacking link is exactly positioned.

It's not the creationists that are looking for the "missing link". Darwin himself acknoledged that there was a missing link in his theory that man decended from apes. Creationists are simply reminding the evolutionists that there is in fact a hole in their argument, one that Darwin admitted to.

Incidentally, Charles Darwin indicated that evolution could not have occurred without God or another higher entity overseeing it.
